Antique Dollhouse Grocery Store

If you've followed my blog for awhile, you'll know that I love antique dollhouse grocery shops. I found a fabulous one last week, just in time for my birthday, which gave me an excuse to splurge on it. Made in Denmark in the 1920s, it has a glass display window, removeable counter, all of its drawers with their original pulls, and lots of accessories, most of which are original to the shop. The store measures 16 inches wide by 7 inches tall, and the largest product bottle is 2 inches high.

My 5 inch Steiff bear makes a perfect shopkeeper:

Here are some closeups of the products:

The outside of the shop features colorful signs
advertising wine and tobacco.
I'm not sure what "Kobmand" means: any Danish speakers out there?

  1. Ein wunderschöner kaufladen... und der Teddy passt absolut. Übrigends ein wunderschöner Kerl mit ganz treuen Augen. Ich sammle auch altte Steifftiere und Bären sowie altes Spielzeug und alte Puppenstuben. Deswegen... weitermachen. Absolut "charmed" Ihre Sachen.

    Liebe Grüße PuNo/Monika

  3. I use Google translation for comments in languages I don't understand, sometimes the result is a little strange but you'll get the main idea :)

  5. Hi Tracy, I have just discovered your blog through Norma's. I have only looked at a tiny bit of it so far - lots more to enjoy! I live in Australia (but a long way from Norma), and collect vintage and antique dolls houses (from about 1900 to 2000). If you have a look at my blog, there are links to other blogs I think you might enjoy - diepuppenstubensammlerin collects German dolls houses and toy shops from the 1950s - 1970s, and also has lots of old toy magazines and so on (she blogs in English as well as German). Florine at My Vintage Dollhouses and other treasures has lots of American dolls houses, and Louise at Grandma's Attic - Toys and Treasures also has lovely American and some English dolls houses. There are lots more too! I love this world of blogs - especially when I discover more treasures like yours!
By the way, I use Google Translate for Købmand, and it means Grocer (like German Kaufmann, I think).
I look forward to reading more of your blog!
