Latest Find!

>happy dance, happy dance<

I just found the rarest vintage game on my wish list, something I actually thought I would never, ever own. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm so excited, I couldn't wait to brag tell everyone about it. What is it? Only one of the strangest, most possibly dangerous, family board games ever created. Watch the original television commercial here to get a glimpse of it in action!

  1. That is freakin' hilarious! I've never heard of such a game. Is the backboard pressed board or something like the old by Judy or Playskool puzzles? The wet sponge was hilarious. Must have come out during the variety show era? Congrats on your find!

  2. What a riot! How did I miss this one as a kid? I was a big Soupy Sales fan, and he brought the old pie in the face vaudeville routine to a new generation of kids. I'm guessing this little game was cashing in on the Soupy craze.

  3. The game has arrived: I will post it soon!

Brian: the backboard is merely thick cardboard...no wonder it is so rare today: I can't see it holding up well against the relentless onslaught of whipped cream.

Hi Linda: yes, I think you may be right: I can see the Soupy influence as well!

  4. I really appreciate your photos of Pie Face!! This was one of my father-in-law's favorite games when it came out & for his 80th birthday (party today, in fact), my husband decided to remake the game out of wood so that we can play it with him. I spent a few hours last night looking at your web site with brush and acrylics in hand painting a clown face on our back board. Our kids are super excited to play it & as a result of your comments about the cardboard, ours should be around for many years to come. :-)
