Vintage Gumby Costumes

I loved Gumby as a child in the 1970s, and can still remember going to the toy store with my mother to buy a "replacement Gumby" when mine would invariably wear out. The bendable 6 inch character was created in the 1950s by Art Clokey, and had his own television show, toy figure, and board game. In 1965, a series of costumes were released for Gumby, which allowed him to take on various exciting personas: knight, astronaut, cowboy, etc. Recently I found a few, and my latest Gumby has been trying them out.

Hey, what about HR Pufinstuf! Darren and I are both huge fans! Do you remember them Tracy?

For my birthday a couple years ago, Darren got me an autographed black and white "Witchie Poo" photo!!!!! Billie Hayes, herself, autographed it to me personally! Wow...I was so thrilled!
We've got a game, comics, etc. So fun!

    1. Yes, although I struggle with the to-open or not-to-open question from time to time, I usually open. Toys are meant to be played with, is what I say!

  6. I found a gumby recently wearing the knight helmet..there is a bunch of sticky silver plastic stuff that has run down his back..it unfortunately got stuck to a Ken doll's arabian knights outfit * bummer+ hopefully with hot water I can get it out of that fabric..but my question is..? would this have been normal on the gumby toy? thanks so much

    1. Hi, yes, those would be remnants of the knight outfit, one of the items in the line shown above.
